“Having Trouble Sneezing” by Mark Mothersbaugh

I am doing a quick project for TV Production 1, and I needed the Mac v. PC music… I had been thinking about it for a while, but stupid me, never started looking.

Well, lo and behold, I have found it. This isn’t the “real” version, but rather a reverse engineering of sorts. Thanks to Scott Olson (no relation to the Olson Twins) we now have “Having Trouble Sneezing” or, since it isn’t quite perfect, “Havin Trobel Snezin.”

Evidently he did the whole song in GarageBand, which just goes to show that good old fashioned FREE software is still good for something… He had to create his own “dainty piano,” so its not perfectly exact (the re-verb and sustain are just a tad off), but you wouldn’t notice it unless you were really looking for it.

He also remade the song from the original “Switch” campaigns. Although not done in GarageBand, it is still pretty close to exact.

Lets just hope Apple Inc. never quite gets around to sending the ole “Cease and Desist” letters of yesteryear.

Check them all out there…

I just wish this dude would update his damn web page…

[Update(ish) - 12/19/2007]

Wow, this is quite the popular post…

Funny. Back in February, I only posted this article to transfer the song from one computer in my dorm to another in the lab (I had the songs hosted at that point, before Scott requested I only link to them). At that time, I thought nothing of traffic or public demand for the ditty’s, or how that would effect my website. But lo and behold, now, nearly a year later, this one post accounts for over half of my inbound traffic. Go figure.

Hey, now that your here, stick around for a bit. I write about a lot more than just… well… this post. You may find it interesting. Maybe not enlightening, but interesting.

As for Scott updating his site, it turns out he’s starting to put a bit more effort into it. However, I do find it amusing that he removed all time and date stamps from anywhere they should be found. Some people may not think that the date when you last updated is relevant, but I am of the belief that posts, perhaps not “frequent” posts, but at least “recent” posts, show that a site isn’t dead, and that some one is still at the helm. Maybe that doesn’t mean much for some topics, but it gives me more security in the information that is there.

So removing the time and date stamps doesn’t really help. But fear not good friends. If his site does happen to go down, I’ve got backups. :-)

Thanks for the link. I’ve been looking for this theme everywhere. Took me forever to identify the artist and the name, form there finding a download was fairly easy (although very limited in choice).
