Well it’s been a bit, again, and now summer is in full swing.
Quite a bit has happened since we last spoke. It’s hard to wrap my mind around just how fast this summer is going by.
The Miss Maine pageant went off pretty well. You know, back in June. Karissa Staples passed on the title of Miss Maine to Tara Allain and the controversy began.
Tara is a good looking young lady, and smart, and talented. You know, just general Miss “Some State Here” material. However, usually “Some State” is the contestant’s home state, and when it’s not, people get pissy… In this case, Tara meets all the criteria to run for, and take home, the Miss Maine title, by residing in the state of Maine for such and such number of months out of the year. Unfortunately, as Tara hails from Worcester, Mass, the finicky folks in the crowd decided to put up a fuss…
And being the webmaster (and in turn, receiving all mail sent to missmaine.org, but not a real mail account) I get the mother-load of complaints. To top it off, administration refuses to make a public statement about it, so I am liable to keep receiving them as word gets out… I feel like saying “I don’t get paid enough for this,” but bitching like that requires that you get paid for it in the first place… Which I don’t…
[2008-01-07 Update: I noticed some links coming in regarding this post (particularly this topic in this post), and I thought I would elaborate. Things have been officially cleared up. It wasn’t long after this post that the head of the board started explaining things to those who were concerned, and there is no longer (hasn’t been for months) confusion about Tara’s legitimacy. She meets all the criteria to run for Miss Maine, and she has turned out to be a wonderful representative for our state. We’re all quite proud of her, and feel she’ll do quite well at the 2008 Miss America Pageant in Vegas in two weeks. See you there!]
Whats a good pageant without a little controversy. Donald knows what I’m talking about.
Since then I’ve been going to the Old Port about every Monday for din din with gorgeous.
Motor Booty Affair came to the beach for a concert.
The iPhone was released (I did not get one).
The Heritage Days Bizarre defined a whole new level of “to suck.”

And the Portland Symphony Orchestra performed the Independence POPS at the beach too.
Jen and I are doing wonderful. Thanks for asking. We actually went and saw Knocked Up last night on our weekly Monday date in South Portland… And honestly, I really didn’t care for the acting… a lot of it seemed forced, just not natural. It felt like they were reading from a script…
Is that weird? That we have “Weekly Dates?” Every Monday we meet in Portland/South Portland, and every Wednesday either I go down, or she comes up (it alternates). It keeps things healthy, and active (I think). One of the things that killed me about previous relationships was the time apart. I can’t deal with distance well, and seeing my other on a regular basis helps tremendously. Now, I know Kim practically lived with me for a summer, but that was a different story… How so, I am not sure, but I am sure it was different, some how…
I am playing EVE a lot more now, for those of you who care. I got it working on my Mac a few months ago, while my desktop was incapacitated due to melting silicon and plastic (toasted some… “stuff”). It’s not supposed to work on a Mac, so I was pretty psyched to get it running (even if it was for lack of sound).
Now that I have got my desktop back up and running, I have joined a new corporation (CRYO) and have moved shop to low sec space (9IX and NGM). So far so good. I always like low sec space. No one is a cock in low sec, everyone is helpful, supportive, and very black and white (you know who to kill and who is going to kill you, there is no uncertainty). I actually enjoy the game in low sec, where as I HATE playing in Empire space. Which is weird, because I torment the kids in Empire, the same was I hate to be tormented…
There is more I am sure, but I think I am going to wrap things up there.
Tonight I am going to Joshuas with some old friends from the beach, so I will probably have something to chime in about tomorrow.
Peace.
