Aaaand we’re back… again…

Geez, keep taking these breaks… Have to get a handle on that.

So! Summer is finally here! Made it through another school year, I’m out of that damn apartment in Old Town, and I’ve got a new kitten. :-D

Meet Mali.

Summer is a kitten.

Sorry, couldn’t help it. She’s just so adorable. Stole her from my ex-roommates actually. Jen and I bought 4 cans of cat food, fed her one, left for two days, came back, and there were still 3 cans left… So I fed her some and waited to see if Caleb made a move to feed her. He didn’t. Fed her the next morning (both times being careful no one noticed, to see if anyone else cared to feed her), Caleb left for work, making no move, so I left for home. With the cat. And if you are reading this Caleb, tough.

:-D

Wow, that was all kinds of grammatically incorrect. Oh well.

So school is out and I am back to mowing. Every day. All day. From 8:30am till 6-9pm… And I enjoy it. :-D

God I am happy to be out for a bit. I mean, I love NESCom (MUCH more-so than SU), but I was dogging it there in the last few weeks. Mostly because of English (contrary to the stereotype of most Bloggers, I HATE structured writing…), which I was sure I would nearly fail.

That in mind, imagine my surprise when I received my grades the other day and pulled in a B+ or higher in every class but Intro to Media (C+). Yeah… That look you just made? Imagine mine…

Pretty much, everything is awesome right now, save the back of my hands, which are sun-burnt to the very edge of blistering…

I’ve spent fair amount of time with Jen the past two weeks. Once last Wednesday, then again this past weekend for my birthday, for a full two days. Makes me smile, real-big-like. I’m going back to Waterboro tomorrow night, Justin in tow, to catch a 1am showing of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 with Jen and the crew. Should be fun. And then we’re going kayaking next Tuesday.

You know, I think I could dig this woman. ;-)

Got some pretty cool stuff on my birthday. John and Cathy (Jen’s mum and dad) got me a remote-controlled helicopter, which absolutely kicks ass! I am in the process of calibrating the tail rotor over the past few days… Out of the box they are only roughly calibrated to stay straight, but if you want, you can fine tune it to stay more true (not spin around in circles). We’ll see how it turns out.

Jen’s Grandma got us tickets to WARPED TOUR 2007! Fucking right!

I played with Jen a bit (I got both tickets in my one card), and I think she actually believed I was going to take Justin with my spare. HA! Right…

Jen got me a “Meh.” shirt (much cooler than you think, I can assure you), and a book on photographic lighting. I only looked over the book briefly, but I can tell I am going to like it. I will review it after I get some time to go through it in detail…

And last, but not least, mom got me a watch (which I have yet to really wear, as I am afraid to dirty it), and some shirts…

But not just ANY shirts… Company shirts. Namely, CoverThis Photography. I really can’t describe them, so I will have to post a picture at some point. :-D

There was something else, but I can’t place it… :-/

Anyway, the past few days I have been dubbing around, trying to get Step Mania to work on this old laptop. Had a turn for the better this afternoon, but still not quite there. I’ll document it here in a few days.

Right now, however, I need a shower, and some aloe-vera. Just wanted to check in, tell you I’m not dead, and such. So, that said, have an evening…

I’m an RA!!

And there you have it. The end of the world as we know it.

HA! Good RIDDANCE Old Town! After May 11th I will have no more to do with ye! No more driving back and forth, land-lords, utilities, unpaved driveways, disgusting roommates… Hallelujah!

Now, I know its not going to be a walk in the park, but I think I can handle it. I have found through past experience that the more I am challenged, the better I do. It’s when I am not challenged that I fall to the wayside. We’ll see.

Really, this is going to be such a great opportunity. I am excited beyond words.

Eviction, and how it affects you…

You know it’s been a slow set of days when you get serious responses to photos like this:
Happy lunch

So, I narrowly missed getting evicted today…

Hows that for catching your attention?

Evidently I was quite literally “A day late and a dollar short.” Seven days and three-hundred dollars, to be exact. But I’m all set now, for those of you who care, with no ill effects. On this note I would like to inform you of the consequences of being evicted. I, myself, was not fully aware of such matters. However, it was rather nice of my landlord to provide me a paper with an easy to understand list:

1. Eviction Court: This will be humiliating, and a matter public record.
2. Dispossession: This also will be humiliating, and a matter of public record.
3. Judgments: This too will be humiliating, and a matter of public record.

I will tell you, the pamphlet was quite helpful and informative, I practically feel like I was there…

Actually, we were all served (Caleb, Danny and I) an eviction notice, and come to find it was primarily Danny’s fault, such a nice change. However, I am sure I didn’t help the matter.

God I have to get out of this house…

It had to snow…

It’s freakin’ APRIL! Gah… It’s been nearly shorts-weather for the past week, few weeks, and now its just as white outside as February… Ew… It’s not even cold enough! It’s still kind of warm out…

Whatever.

I feel I owe you, dear reader, an apology.

It seems my “update” yesterday was more of a rant than an honest, all encompassing, update. And I am sorry…

Sure, some bad stuff has gone down, but things have been on the up ‘n up too. And here’s where I get to boast…

INTERNET!! W00T!

So the Time Warner guy just installed Internet in the apartment. I am stoked! However, I get no chance besides this to test it out. Off to Jen’s! Peace.

Some sort of V-Day…

Well yesterday sure was a grab bag of emotions and confusion…

Where do I begin? I began the day with a dash of frustration and about two teaspoons of guilt and anger each. I had tried breaking into Apartment 2’s wifi for a good few hours the evening before, to no avail, and some hardware I had bought specifically for the job neither worked on my Mac, or wanted my Mac to work.

Money wasted.

Money, come to find out, I didn’t have, as I was a good $6 in the hole, even after a $200 check. So thats no good. As it turns out, NSF (No Sufficient Funds) fees can pile up quick. In total, I think I was responsible for about $40 (these were a few really small checks), and the NSF fees accounted for almost $180 of debt. Thats absurd, and to top it off, despite waking to a formidable blizzard, my Approaches to Literature teacher decided she wanted to hold the only class of the day… So there’s your frustration and anger, all balled up inside of my first few hours of the day.

Luckily the rest of the day went considerably better. Including obnoxious balloons, flowers, chocolates, bottles of water, chocolate syrup, lace and American Idol… Not all in that particular order. Read on…

Long time, no… well… anything.

So, its been a while.

It seams like only yesterday I was setting up my newest blog (this one) and writing away. Posting about this and that to an audience that I wasn’t even sure was out there. Then I hit a road bump, got caught up in the end of the semester shenanigans, and next thing I know… POOF! Happy New Year! Then I just put the whole blog thing on the back burner with the full intent to catch up once I got back to school.

Problem is (and this is a whole story in its self) we don’t have internet at the apartment yet, and I have been having computer “issues” using the school wireless network… But its all back together now, and I thought I would check in.

Birthdays, Housing, ‘n More!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIR-…

You get the point… Jen’s Birthday was this weekend… Lucky…

I’m not going to lie, it was pretty fun. Friday she went out with the girlies for her “Girls Night Out,” whatever that means. Evidently they Stitched and Bitched the night away. Which as I take it was relatively fun, so thats good for her. The guys and I went to check out the house and watched movies, but more on that later.

We celebrated Jen’s Birthday through Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. Saturday evening Jen’s cousin came over, and a sizable bunch of us wasted the night away playing Guitar Hero and Mario Party in a friend’s room. The next day Jen’s Mom and Dad came up from Waterboro, and we went out to lunch at Ichban’s (or something like that). Jen and I filled our cravings for Sushi, and then some. :-D

I met Jen’s Mom a few weeks ago, but this was the first time I have ever met her father. He is a pretty nice guy. Jen’s Grandmother made her two skirts, and Jen’s mom bought her a few shirts and on sick pair of boots (thigh-high, stiletto, black). They also brought up all sorts of snack foods and goodies with them too.

I had heard a while back that Jen was really looking forward to the new DDR: Super Nova, so I got it for her (she’s a BIG DDR fan), as well as a loofah (a duck loofah), so she had one over here in Bell when long nights left her other one oh-so far away… They were both a hit. :-D All in all I’d say it was a pretty good day…

In other news, the boys and I checked out “The House” this past Friday, and I’m not going to lie… It needs work. Not the, “Oh, lets paint the living room,” kind either. More like the, “We should call a wrecker,” kind… Everything is in workable shape. Just about every room needs a coat of paint, and a few doors need to be patched. Besides that, everything else is great… Except the kitchen…

The kitchen is bad-ass, its got an island in the middle, hanging ceiling fan, a telephone bar, fridge, stove, washing machine, the works, and its huge. However, its not done. It needs a new ceiling, a new floor, and the windows need to be finished (plus a little woodwork here and there), but I/we just couldn’t let that get to us… the rest of it is just too good a deal. It’s a three bedroom apartment, with a full bath, living room, sitting room, full kitchen and breakfast room (sun room). Plus a porch and a 6-8 car driveway (3-4 of those spots will be ours). It’s a mile off I-95 (about 10-15 miles north of school). It’s just nuts!
The landlord is Caleb’s brother, so no secrets there (he is a nice guy, not a dick), and the tenants upstairs are sorority girls (so they are pretty chill, and again, not dicks). Rent is $800 a month, which comes to about $267 per person a month, and if we agree to do work on the apartment (pretty much a given) he will drop it to $600 a month (all of this only because it is family).

So we signed up. There wasn’t really any other choice… I am sure you understand…

Finaly, I have my interview for Image Works tomorrow. Can’t wait. It’s at 13:00. I’ve been getting my paperwork together all afternoon. I’ve got a few more things to get from my mom, but I’m really excited… :-P

Ok, Jen’s back, and its time for our HTML study session… God I love this girl.

PEACE!

PS: She’s sweaty… She took a moment to remind me of this fact with her FOREHEAD! Gah…

Jen’s Midterms

So yeah, Jen’s midterms just came in. She’s kicking my ass right now…

Course Name Mid-Term Exam Mid-Term Grade
Speech A+ A
College Algebra A+ A
General Psychology A+ A
Chemistry I B B
Chemistry Lab I n/a A-

I suppose its my own fault. Skipping classes, handing in late papers… I mean, Jen skips some too, but she gets her work in on time. But then again… I wouldn’t be a guy if I didn’t. Its part of my charm. ;-)

So Jen’s birthday is this weekend. As of Saturday night Jen will be one year closer to not quite 21. Then, Sunday morning, just a year out… HA!!! Still not 21!

I kid… I’m really crying inside…

So, for her birthday I am getting her one, and only one presant. I’m going to fix her laptop. Shhhhh, don’t tell…. ;-)

No no no. I’m going to get something, something good too… I just… Don’t know yet… :-/ Well, I do. I have a list, and I will be checking it twice on Friday, while she’s out with the gurlz.

WTF!? What IS a “Girls Night?!” All I know is I’m not involved… Which is a good change from previous relationships, where “Girls Nights” were virtually non-existent… Gets the woman out of my hair for a night… I’m kidding. She’s even offered to stay a night out of my hair before… Actually, I take quite a bit of flack from Caleb for not taking her up on the offer. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. :-D

Jen just got elected to take over the Husson Writing Center website. Did I ever tell you she’s perfect?

Other news. Tomorrow night Caleb, Danny Boy, and Myself will be checking out the place where we’re going to live next semester. I’ll take pictures and post them tomorrow evening. The rent is going to be super cheap. Like $350 a month a piece cheap.

For those of you playing along at home, that $200 a month cheaper than living on campus. That, with a part-time job, will get me a shiny new MacBook Pro some time this December… Thats my plan anyway.

Also, Jen and I are going to go swing dancing this Sunday (hopefully), and maybe we’ll get my laundry done some time before then too… Before it eats me.

And for those of you wondering. Rechecked the wedding audio on one of the SL1’s, and the sound is perfect. I’ll start on that tomorrow.

PEACE!

-MiKe-

Mid-Term and Next Semester.

So, half a semester down at the good old N.E.S. of C.O.M. Lets see what the score is, shall we?

Course Name Mid-Term Exam Mid-Term Grade
Interpersonal Communications B A-
Introduction to Theater n/a B+
General Psychology A+ C
Digital Photography n/a C
English Composition B B+

All in all I am pleased with my grades at the mid term. General Psychology is low due to the fact that there has only been one assignment in that class, and the paper was late… Digital Photography on the other hand, there is no excuse. I practically own that class, I just missed an assignment.

As for next semester, I wrote my schedule on Tuesday. Here it is:

Course Name Days Times
Video Production I Mondays 9:00-11:00am
Digital Imaging for the Web Mondays 5:30-8:30pm
Approaches to Literature Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00-12:15pm
Digital Photography II Tuesdays 9:00-12:00pm
Video Production I [Lab] Tuesdays 1:00-4:00pm
Intro to Media Thursdays 6:00-9:00pm
Adbsolutely Nothing Fridays All Day

There you have it. Looks like its going to be a pretty sweet semester. Next we are all looking for a house. Doing the math, a student at NESCOM would be making pure profit if they were paying $530 or less per month on housing. That leaves our options WIDE open… So we’ll see where that takes us.

Also, I found a place to Intern/Work next semester (I hope). Image Works. I’ll tell you more about them later. Basically, my room mates brother works there, and with any luck, my room mate and I will too.
