I had(have) to make a PowerPoint Presentation to test out of MI 120 here in the next few days, and one of the requirements was to make a quick song in Soundtracks to play behind some slides. So I made these two. Personally I like the second the best… But honestly… They both suck. Thats why I’m not an audio major…

Ok, I shoot for Miss Maine, sure. This, in and of it’s self, doesn’t mean I actually LIKE pageantry, or the pageantry world. Well, the stereotypes anyway. Because, anyone who’s had words with me on the subject knows very well that I actually DO like pageantry, and will defend it tooth and nail if I have to. Provided that by “pageantry” you talking about Miss America, and not Miss USA, Donald Trump’s… ish…
Enough with the sentence fragments; I like pageantry. That said, I just about shit myself when the executive director of Miss Maine asked me to post the following video on the Miss Maine front page.
“Audrey,” I said, after I got over my slack-jawed terror, “um… this doesn’t really… I don’t… get it.”
“Haha,” comes the voice of reason, “yeah, it’s a joke, they’re trying to make fun of-”
“US!” I exclaimed. “They did a good job, what is this all about?” I inquired, even more confused now than before I had called.
Ok, upswing time.
I purchased my first set of business cards this weekend. Not only did no one around and close to me see this coming, neither did I!
I happened across a blog entry, somewhere in the etherweb, about memorable business cards, and it got me thinking. For years I have had “business cards” through some entity or another (either through the beach, or more recently, through Miss Maine), but I have never had one to call my own. Until now.
This weekend I put my foot down. This is what I want to do, and I am doing it. You can’t ignore it now, CoverThis Photography is out there, and it’s going to get you.
Below are some mock-ups of the business cards I designed, and will be receiving in a week or so.

The front is white (off-white in the mock-up) with the CoverThis Photography logo in the bottom right. It is printed in black raised thermal ink, and purposely off-set so that the bottom and right sides of the lens will be trimmed off.
The back is “nearly” black, with my name and contact information printed in “nearly” white, accompanied by appropriate icons for each field (a little person next to my name, a camera next to “Photographer,” etc…). The text is formatted to fit into an exact rectangle, making for and “interesting” text layout…
Admittedly, I did get one comment that the back is confusing at first, yet I am happy with it, and chose to go with it after a good long thinking…
It sure isn’t one of “those” business cards, but I think it is sufficiently different, and from what I have gathered from others, I believe it will work in the end.
So, since I managed to destroy one of my two dance pads, I decided it was time to get looking for a replacement. Being the only place I knew of to get $6 dance pads, I headed back over to the Kraft Brands Active Gaming website.

Oddly, the game pad page is still up but the order form is MIA. Saddly, after an spending an hour with customer support, I am still kraft-paddless… If anyone out there has one of these things they want to junk, send it my way. I’ll even pay shipping and handling. ![]()
Yeah, so this stuff might not be of much consequence to you, but I just registered a new domain:
http://www.coverthisphotography.com/
Which is a pretty big deal for me.
I also just launched the new Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant Forums here, and I just got all this seasons episodes of House, so I will be catching up on that over the next few nights. So, yeah… Geek stuff, I know, but it’s my life.
I think I mentioned I have been trying to get Step Mania up and running here for a few days in my last blog, and if I didn’t, now you know. Anyway, turns out that Kraft (the cheese people) are giving away free USB dance pads, for the price of shipping ($6.00).
The offer only lasts until July 31st, so get them while the gettin’s good! Also, a little modification is needed to get them to work in Step Mania, but for this price, who’s complaining?
If you know me, you’ll probably know I have a nice pair of red suede Timberlands that I just adore. You’d know this because I wear them alot, and they kind of look like a set of clown shoes…
Well, come to find, although such things are marketed by Timberland as “boots” they actually serve no such functionality at all. And when faced with even a mild shower, such as the one we are receiving today, they like to let your feet get in on the fun too.
Gah! Some weather. At least what we are getting now is more in tune with the whole “April showers bring May flowers” thing. Its just a bit cooler, and comes accompanied with a dash or two of snow…
So, I’m in Digital Imaging for the Web I right now… Some kind of crap class…
Our last project was to design six animated gifs, and now we have to design two splash pages and three content pages for our final project. Our final project is to pick one of each and make a “functional” web page. I quote functional because I suppose its up for interpretation. If your idea of “functional” is a page that meets minimum design requirements for 1998, then your set to sit in this class…
The pages we are to create are essentially just sliced up Photoshop documents, exported to HTML. Which is hokey-poky, HTML 1.0, table crap. And the kids in my class act like it’s the end of the world…
My company (fictional, and if there is any likeness to ANY site on the net, it’s an act of God) is Shady Acres, Assisted Living for old People. These flashy things are my animated gifs… Hope you have a seizure…
I already threw together the design I am going to use for my final project. You can find that here. As for my splash page, give me a minute… I am sure it won’t be hard…
I’m going to throw a few “templates” together in the next few moments, wish me luck… ![]()
I have been going back in time, tagging all my posts for technorati. I made it as far as A little late, and now I have got to go to the Portland Pirates game. GAH.
You know it’s been a slow set of days when you get serious responses to photos like this:
So, I narrowly missed getting evicted today…
Hows that for catching your attention?
Evidently I was quite literally “A day late and a dollar short.” Seven days and three-hundred dollars, to be exact. But I’m all set now, for those of you who care, with no ill effects. On this note I would like to inform you of the consequences of being evicted. I, myself, was not fully aware of such matters. However, it was rather nice of my landlord to provide me a paper with an easy to understand list:
1. Eviction Court: This will be humiliating, and a matter public record.
2. Dispossession: This also will be humiliating, and a matter of public record.
3. Judgments: This too will be humiliating, and a matter of public record.
I will tell you, the pamphlet was quite helpful and informative, I practically feel like I was there…
Actually, we were all served (Caleb, Danny and I) an eviction notice, and come to find it was primarily Danny’s fault, such a nice change. However, I am sure I didn’t help the matter.
God I have to get out of this house…
