Embedding Music in your Blog…

You may have noticed -no steam shovel- has a bit of a sound-track now. Not just that same damn song, over and over. Some variety…

It took some time, but my quest for embedded blog music has come to an end with FineTune. Check the MORE link for more on the topic, and why I chose them over the competition…

For a good long while I have been looking in to embedded music for blogs to no real avail… I found a good number of embedded solutions, but none seemed to work the way I wanted them to.

Below you will find a few of our options, not really in any order, as well as a description and the pros and cons of each. As you may know, I hate paying for things, so all of these are free, and most importantly, legal. I believe I am about done adding content to this, so there shouldn’t be any more updates unless anyone has anything I should add to the subject.

In this post I will take a look at divShare, FineTune, last.fm, Radio.Blog.Club, Music Video Base, Sonific, the Streampad Widget and the Traditional Embed method for adding music to your blog…

Ad-Sense

I just installed AdSense-Deluxe. I shall get around to setting it up some time in the future…

Fixing the ugly…

At the moment I am in the process of touching up my page a bit… Nothing major, colors, some graphics, we’ll see where it leads me. Not to say that its particularly ugly at the moment… but it isn’t decisively mine, and it shall be here in a few moments…

AH-HA! I won!

So, one bit of fallout of getting the new MacBook Pro is that I am actually organizing my life a bit with iCal. I did this back at Susquehanna University, and it seemed to help, so I am trying it. I don’t suppose you could call this a bad thing in and of its self, but I (and your going to get lost here) just got this new plug-in for Apple Aperture, and the author’s site got me back into thinking about customizing my blog a bit.

Confused yet?

So I set out to set up Event Calendar 3 (a plug-in for WordPress), and that is where the trouble began.

Long story short, Event Calendar 3 and K2 (the template I am using) do not get along, and practically destroyed my WordPress install. But I prevailed, and with a little wizardry, I got thing working again.

This is all, goodnight.

Scratch that. Two steps forward, none back.

Come In!

Mulligan: 1
WordPress: zip

Thats right, after a whole hell-of-a-lot of tweaking, I finaly got the Gallery to work the way I want it to. Should be interesting. I’ll start populating the albums here after classes. There are so many pictures I want to put up, and FaceBook an MySpace are heaping peices of turd.

Ok, off to General Psyh.

Two steps forward, one… not…

So, I’ve been messing around with WordPress for the past 12 hours straight. Fun fun fun. I like the little layout I’ve got going. It needs a bit more tweaking; there are some sidebar elements I want to get in there, a few CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) changes that need to be made, the usual. But thus far… Pleased. With the layout at least… Then I got the great idea to throw Gallery2 into the mix, and WPG2… Thats when things got interesting…

Lets try this out.

There is only one album right now. If you are familiar with Gallery, clicking on the album image brings you to the… oh wait, we have to select an album again… shoot… So lets select an album we want to go into again… ok, so now we can select an ima… crap, what, do we have to do? Confirm again? Never mind, lets just select a random image from the side, that should work. Ok, so we got one… WHAT THE HECK!? Album page AGAIN!?

I think you get the point…

Hopefully there will be some peeps from the WPG2 forums heading this way to give it a looksee… I’d really like to get it working and integrated, that would be swell.

EDIT: Things have now since been fixed, move along, there’s nothing to see here…
